Simon C. Kemper specialises in colonial Southeast Asian history and the intricacies of combining Asian and European sources within the digital humanities. He is affiliated with numerous institutions including Leiden University and the ARSARI Foundation and has cooperated with Delft University, the Rijksmuseum and the British Library. Simon has published books and articles on early modern warfare, historical maps, and the Indonesian independence movement. He also contributed sources and datasets to a variety of digital archives including Sejarah Nusantara, Colonial Architecture, The Atlas of Mutual Heritage, and The Endangered Archives Programme.
