Dr Jiyin He is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI).
She received her PhD from the University of Amsterdam (2011) in Information Retrieval. Her research interest is interactive information retrieval, including retrieval models, users, and interaction between users and search systems.
Application areas of her research include Web search, social media, health informatics, marine ecology, and humanities research. In 2014 she was awarded a personal grant (VENI) from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research to carry out research focused on developing a search evaluation framework that allows accurate predictions and simulations of user search performance with respect to diverse types of advanced search interfaces that are well beyond the traditional "10 blue links"-- thereby enabling faster and more reliable development of search systems.
