Frank Harbers (PhD Groningen) works as an assistant professor at the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies at the University of Groningen. In 2014 he finished his PhD thesis titled 'Between Personal Experience and Detached Information. The development of reporting and the reportage in Great Britain, the Netherlands and France, 1885-2005' on the history of reporting in Europe.
He is currently examining how the development of journalistic form, in particular genre classification, can examined through forms of automated content analysis, which is at the heart of his researcher-in-residence project at the KB. In addition, he is part of the large-scale research project 'Entrepreneurship at work: Analysing practice, labour and creativity in journalism', which investigates how new journalistic initiatives are reconceptualizing journalism practice.
