Call KB: Research-meets-Art-in-Residence (RAiR) 2025

Inhoudsblokken
Body

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of our Researcher-in-Residence (RiR) program, we are inviting researchers and/or artists to join us in a special initiative. This distinctive program seeks to improve the exploration and visualization of the digital collection at the KB, National Library of the Netherlands. Additionally, it aims to deepen the connection between research and artistic communities to inspire innovative ideas.

We are looking for a RAiR initiative that creatively engages with our digital collections and provides meaningful, open-source solutions.

As a requirement for a successful project, the project must:

  • include a research component.
  • include an interactive visualization or artistic performance.
  • make tools and resources reusable.
  • make tools and resources extensible for other cultural heritage institutions.
  • publish in public domain (CC-BY 4.0.)

The RAiR project focuses on addressing research questions from both scientific and artistic perspectives. We promote the innovative use of KB’s digital collections, enhancing access for both researchers and the public. Your project should help us understand how to better support users, e.g. creative makers, in searching and exploring our collections. We welcome user-centered approaches and will provide support and feedback throughout the development process. During the project's conduct, we recommend getting direct feedback from the public at the library to support quick and iterative design.
